Terms and Conditions – RightToLaw

The following Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and the operator of the website RightToLaw (“RightToLaw,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), accessible at www.righttolaw.com (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site in any manner, including but not limited to browsing the Site, submitting queries, or registering for an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

BY ACCESSING OR USING THIS SITE, INCLUDING REGISTERING AN ACCOUNT OR AVAILING ANY SERVICE, YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF USE. You also confirm that you consent to the information practices outlined in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. These Terms are governed by and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of India, and you agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations while using the Site.

The Site and all services provided herein are made available on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

If you are accessing or using the Site on behalf of another individual or a legal entity, you represent and warrant that you are duly authorized to accept and bind such individual or entity to these Terms of Use.

You acknowledge and agree that RightToLaw reserves the right, at its sole discretion and without prior notice, to modify, enhance, remove, suspend, or discontinue any aspect or feature of the Site or the services offered therein, at any time.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS OF USE OR OUR PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SITE.

General Terms – RightToLaw

  1. RightToLaw is an independent platform that facilitates interaction between users and independent legal professionals (“Lawyers”). We do not provide legal services directly, nor do we control or influence the advice or assistance provided by any Lawyer listed on our platform. RightToLaw bears no responsibility—direct or indirect—for any legal services, guidance, or outcomes arising from your interactions with any Lawyer. In the event of any dispute, issue, or discrepancy related to the services rendered by a Lawyer, you agree that such matters are strictly between you and the respective Lawyer.
  2. RightToLaw retains the right to publish free legal advice submitted and provided through the platform, both on the website and in external communications, for the purposes of public knowledge-sharing and legal awareness. However, in all such publications, user-identifiable information shall be excluded. We strongly advise that you do not include the names of any individuals, entities, or companies in your question, as doing so could potentially expose you to claims of defamation if the mentioned party objects.
  3. Multiple Lawyers may respond to similar queries listed under the same legal category, and their responses may differ based on their individual interpretations, experience, or understanding. RightToLaw accepts no liability for varying or conflicting legal opinions and encourages users to seek additional legal advice or rely on their own judgment and discretion when acting upon any guidance received.
  4. RightToLaw offers users the opportunity for online video consultations with Lawyers listed on the platform. Please note that such consultations are purely advisory and should not be considered a substitute for in-depth legal representation. Any interactions, including discussions about your legal issues, are strictly between you and the selected Lawyer. RightToLaw does not monitor, access, or store any video consultations and assumes no liability for the confidentiality, outcome, or quality of such interactions.

Disclaimer Regarding Legal Information and Relationships – RightToLaw

All materials and information available on the RightToLaw website are provided solely for general informational purposes. They may not reflect current legal developments, judgments, or updates, and they may vary based on jurisdiction-specific laws or interpretations. The content on the Site does not necessarily reflect the opinions of any Lawyer, Law Firm, their partners, clients, or affiliates listed on or using the platform.

RightToLaw does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or current validity of any information presented on the Site. Mere receipt of an email, message, or any communication via the Site does not create a Lawyer-client relationship between you and any Lawyer or with RightToLaw.

Any legal services or opinions you receive are rendered exclusively by the respective Lawyer or Law Firm. RightToLaw shall not be liable for any damages, losses, costs, or consequences arising from your use of such legal services, including but not limited to claims of malpractice or professional negligence.

You agree that any legal claim or dispute related to services received must be brought solely against the respective Lawyer or Law Firm. Under no circumstances shall RightToLaw or any of its affiliates, licensors, or partners be named or involved in such claims.

Whenever we use terms such as “your Lawyer,” “your Professional,” or “service provider” on RightToLaw, including within these Terms of Use, it is solely for reference. These terms refer to a Lawyer or professional with whom you have personally entered into an acknowledged, formal, and direct relationship. RightToLaw and its platform-listed professionals do not become your Lawyer or service provider unless and until you independently establish such a relationship with them.

Lawyers and Professionals using RightToLaw to provide online consultations (collectively “Lawyers”), and any affiliates or third-party service providers (collectively “Affiliates”), will serve you to the best of their ability, and solely in accordance with the professional relationship independently formed between you and them.

1. Using the RightToLaw Website

All users of the RightToLaw platform must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. In the case of users who are minors (under eighteen years), a parent or legal guardian must accept these Terms of Use on their behalf and oversee all interactions on the platform.

The User is solely responsible for ensuring that any information submitted on RightToLaw is accurate and complete. RightToLaw does not independently verify the information provided by users and assumes no responsibility for its accuracy, completeness, or usability. However, to ensure better service delivery, RightToLaw may request additional information as necessary.

Using RightToLaw services requires a basic understanding of the internet, and users are expected to possess the requisite digital literacy to navigate and utilize the platform effectively.

2. How Does It Work?

If you choose to submit a Free Question on RightToLaw, you will not be charged any fee. However, please note that responses to Free Questions may be delayed, and answering them does not establish a lawyer-client relationship. These questions and responses are publicly visible to all users of the platform.

The system automatically assigns Free Questions to available lawyers—users cannot choose which lawyer will respond. RightToLaw does not guarantee a response and reserves the right not to process Free Questions at times when lawyer availability is limited. You may receive communication via email, SMS, or phone regarding the status of your question.

Although RightToLaw provides a platform to increase visibility and accessibility for legal professionals, it is not an advertising service. Lawyer listings and search results are determined solely by user input and system algorithms, and not by any paid prioritization.

DISCLAIMER: RightToLaw does not endorse or recommend any specific legal professional listed or answering questions on the platform. We are not liable for any decision made or action taken by users based on the information available on the site.

3. Independence of Lawyers

The opinions, statements, and answers (collectively referred to as “consultations”) provided by lawyers via the RightToLaw platform represent the individual and independent views of those legal professionals. These do not reflect the views of RightToLaw, its affiliates, or any other organization with which the lawyer may be associated.

RightToLaw does not recommend, endorse, or guarantee any specific tests, legal professionals, products, procedures, opinions, or other information that may be mentioned on the platform or by any lawyer using it. The inclusion of any lawyer or professional in directories or listings on RightToLaw does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation, nor should such inclusion be construed as verification of credentials, qualifications, or competence. All such information is provided strictly on an “as-is” basis, and RightToLaw disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Users understand and agree that lawyers participating on the RightToLaw platform are not employees, agents, or representatives of RightToLaw. Although lawyers are required to provide certain basic details about their professional qualifications—such as jurisdiction of practice and areas of expertise—RightToLaw does not independently verify this information and makes no representation as to its accuracy or completeness. No listing, content, or response on the platform should be interpreted as a recommendation, endorsement, or referral by RightToLaw.

Furthermore, lawyers on the platform do not pay any fee or compensation to RightToLaw for inclusion or for responding to questions posted by users.

While participating lawyers may make certain representations about their qualifications and standing within their respective jurisdictions, users are encouraged to perform their own due diligence and independently assess any lawyer’s competence or suitability prior to engaging them.

RightToLaw does not assert, represent, or warrant that any lawyer listed or responding on the platform provides services of a higher or superior quality than others. We strongly advise users to conduct independent evaluations before forming a professional relationship with any legal service provider.

4. Website Usage Terms

By accessing or using the RightToLaw website and services, you represent and warrant that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements. You further affirm that you are using the RightToLaw platform under your own name and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all obligations set forth herein.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your password. Any activity carried out under your RightToLaw account will be deemed to be authorized by you. You must not share your login credentials with anyone and must promptly notify RightToLaw of any unauthorized use or suspected security breach.

No individual or entity shall be deemed to have any authority to act as an agent, employee, or representative of RightToLaw for any purpose whatsoever unless explicitly authorized in writing.

If you are an international user, you acknowledge and agree that your personal data may be collected, stored, and processed outside your home jurisdiction, including on servers located in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. By using our services, you consent to such cross-border transfers as detailed in our Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to such data handling, you must refrain from using the platform.

Your use of the RightToLaw website constitutes your electronic signature to these Terms of Use and confirms your agreement to transact with us electronically.

The platform must only be used in good faith. You agree not to transmit or make available any material that:

  • is false, misleading, or unlawful;
  • breaches any contractual or fiduciary obligation (e.g., confidentiality or non-disclosure);
  • is threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, invasive of privacy, or otherwise objectionable;
  • infringes the intellectual property or proprietary rights of any individual or entity.

You may not impersonate any individual or entity or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization.

Unless expressly authorized in writing by RightToLaw, you agree not to:

  • post or distribute promotional content, advertisements, or solicitations;
  • copy, reproduce, sell, resell, exploit or commercially use any part of the Site or its Services;
  • use the Site for the purpose of mass marketing, spamming, or transmission of chain letters.

Prohibited Technical Conduct

You are strictly prohibited from introducing any viruses, malware, worms, or any other code intended to damage or disrupt the Site. In case of such conduct, you agree to pay liquidated damages of Rs.1,00,000 for each day the Site remains impaired, plus additional actual damages arising from the disruption. These damages are based on estimated loss of goodwill, downtime repair costs, and user trust. This clause does not limit RightToLaw’s right to pursue further legal remedies or injunctive relief.

Data Protection and Use Restrictions

You may not:

  • collect or store personal data about other users;
  • access the Site for purposes of data mining, scraping, or content extraction beyond personal use;
  • misappropriate contact details or materials for recruitment, solicitation, or similar purposes.

You may only use the platform for the legitimate purpose of:

  • finding a lawyer to assist with your legal matter; and
  • obtaining general information about legal issues (together, “Permissible Use”).

Any other use, including but not limited to recruiting or soliciting lawyers or employees affiliated with RightToLaw, constitutes an “Impermissible Use.” If you engage in such conduct, you agree to pay liquidated damages of Rs.2,00,000/- per occurrence, in addition to further damages as assessed. This clause reasonably estimates potential harm caused to RightToLaw and is not a waiver of our right to seek injunctive or equitable relief.

You may not manipulate metadata, headers, or identifiers to disguise the origin of content transmitted through the platform.

Conduct and Content Responsibility

You agree not to harm minors in any way or use the platform to upload, post, or share content that is harmful, unlawful, or offensive. You are solely responsible for all content that originates from your account or device. RightToLaw does not monitor or control all user-generated content and is not responsible for any loss or harm resulting from such content, including any inaccuracies or offensive material.

RightToLaw reserves the right, but not the obligation, to review, remove, or block any content it deems to be in violation of these Terms of Use or otherwise inappropriate, at its sole discretion.

If you submit any information to the Site, you agree that it is true, accurate, current, and complete. If we have reasonable grounds to believe that any information you provided is false or misleading, we may suspend or terminate your account and/or restrict access to our services.

You acknowledge and agree that RightToLaw, or its authorized representatives, may—but are not obligated to—pre-screen, monitor, or review any content submitted, posted, or otherwise made available on the platform. RightToLaw reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to refuse, modify, or remove any content that it determines violates these Terms of Use or is otherwise inappropriate, offensive, unlawful, or objectionable.

Nothing in this clause shall be construed as imposing an obligation on RightToLaw to monitor or control content, nor does it create any liability for content originating from users or third parties.

The decision to form a lawyer-client relationship is a significant and personal one that must be made solely between you and the lawyer. RightToLaw does not interfere with or influence this relationship and encourages you to consider seeking additional legal opinions where necessary, especially where statutory deadlines or time-sensitive legal obligations are involved.

By submitting a question, requesting consultation, or otherwise interacting through the RightToLaw platform, you explicitly authorize us and/or the lawyers using the platform to contact you via email or phone.

5. Scope of Services

RightToLaw, including its operators, team members, and third-party professionals offering services through the platform, disclaims all responsibility for any legal, medical, financial, or other outcomes resulting from the use of the Site or any consultations facilitated through it.

RightToLaw does not guarantee that any form of consultation—whether conducted via the website, over the phone, or through video interaction—is suitable, sufficient, or appropriate for your specific issue. The services offered through the platform are intended to assist users in accessing general legal information and connecting with legal professionals, and should not be treated as a substitute for in-person professional advice tailored to your unique circumstances.

Users are encouraged to independently assess the suitability of any advice or service received and to consult qualified professionals directly for matters requiring in-depth legal, medical, or financial analysis.

6. User Profile on RightToLaw

Your RightToLaw Profile is created to maintain a record of your consultations and any personal legal queries submitted through the platform. This may include your interaction history, submitted questions, and related information provided during your use of our services.

Any details shared during a web-based, telephonic, or in-person/video consultation may become part of your RightToLaw record. You agree to provide accurate, up-to-date, and complete information to help us deliver services effectively. You also agree to periodically review and update your profile information as necessary.

RightToLaw reserves the right to retain, delete, or destroy any communications or materials submitted, uploaded, or generated via the Site in accordance with its internal data retention and destruction policies.

We may contact you via email to confirm or update the information stored in your RightToLaw Profile, or to follow up on an online consultation. You are responsible for ensuring that the email address you provide is valid and updated as required.

7. Supplementary Communication

RightToLaw may, from time to time, send you newsletters, informational materials, or service-related messages. These may include updates on legal topics, general advice, promotional content, reminders, or links to related third-party websites. You may also receive messages referencing specific aspects of your RightToLaw profile or past interactions.

In addition, RightToLaw may provide access to educational content or general legal information for self-guided reference. These resources are intended purely for informational and educational purposes and should not be interpreted as professional legal advice, nor should they be relied upon as a substitute for consultation with a qualified legal professional regarding your specific matter.

The content of such communications is compiled from a range of sources and may or may not be authored by RightToLaw. We make no representations or warranties as to the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of such information.

From time to time, our website and communications may include links to third-party websites or external resources. RightToLaw does not own or control these websites or the information they provide. We do not endorse, monitor, or guarantee the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party sites or materials linked through our platform and disclaim all responsibility for them.

8. Protection of Proprietary Information

You acknowledge and agree that the services offered by RightToLaw, including all related software, content, design, user interface, documentation, and materials (whether in electronic or printed format), contain proprietary information, trade secrets, and intellectual property owned by RightToLaw. These materials are protected under applicable trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property laws in India and internationally.

You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Site and Services solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and only for the duration of your active, valid user session. This license is subject to compliance with these Terms of Use and does not convey any ownership or intellectual property rights.

You agree not to:

  • Create derivative works based on the Site or Services;
  • Use the Services for any commercial purpose or exploit them in any manner not expressly permitted by these Terms;
  • Infringe upon any intellectual property or proprietary rights of RightToLaw or its licensors.

Violations of these restrictions may result in civil and/or criminal liability under applicable laws. RightToLaw reserves the right to take legal action, including seeking injunctive relief and damages, against any party who infringes upon its intellectual property rights or violates this Agreement.

Except as related to your personal case records, all rights, title, and interest in and to the Site, Services, and all associated content and technology (including software, trademarks, trade names, logos, domain names, and other intellectual property) remain the exclusive property of RightToLaw.

RightToLaw welcomes feedback, suggestions, ideas, and submissions from users. RightToLaw does not make any warranty, express or implied, regarding the qualifications, ability, or effectiveness of any lawyer or professional listed on or accessed through the Site. We make no guarantees that any legal professional will obtain a specific or favorable result for you.

12. Limitation of Liability

YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT RIGHTTOLAW SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR:

  • Loss of profits or revenue,
  • Loss of goodwill,
  • Loss of use or data,
  • Business interruption,
  • Failure to realize expected savings, or
  • Any other intangible losses,

EVEN IF RIGHTTOLAW HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, and regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise, arising from or related to:

  1. Your use of or inability to use the Site or Services;

  6. Any other matter related to your use of the Site or Services.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of RightToLaw, if any, for any claims under these Terms of Use—including for any implied warranties—is limited to the amount paid by you, if any, to RightToLaw in connection with your use of the Site during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

13. Exclusions and Limitations

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

Accordingly, some of the disclaimers, exclusions, and limitations set forth in the above sections may not apply to you, depending on the jurisdiction in which you reside. In such cases, RightToLaw’s liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms of Use is intended to exclude or limit any rights you may have under statutory consumer protection laws that cannot be lawfully excluded or waived.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RightToLaw, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and service providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, expenses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees and costs of third-party claims), arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use or misuse of the Site or Services;

  • Any content submitted, posted, transmitted, or otherwise made available by you through the Site;
  • Infringement or alleged infringement by you (or anyone using your device or account) of any intellectual property, proprietary, or privacy rights of any third party;
  • Any breach of representations, warranties, or obligations under this Agreement.

In the event that we are threatened with a claim, investigation, or legal proceeding by a third party, we may require written assurances from you regarding your obligation to indemnify us. Failure to provide such assurances promptly upon request may be considered a material breach of this Agreement and may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access to the Services.

Limitation of Liability Under Indemnification

Under no circumstances, including negligence, shall RightToLaw or its affiliates, partners, licensors, or any person involved in the development, production, or distribution of the Site and its Services be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from:

  • The use or inability to use the Site or Services;
  • Errors, omissions, or interruptions in functionality;
  • Deletion or corruption of files or data;
  • Delays in operation or transmission;
  • Unauthorized access to, or alteration or loss of, records, programs, content, or services;
  • Acts of nature, system failures, theft, or destruction of infrastructure.

This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination of your account and your use of the Site or Services.

In addition, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, under no circumstances shall RightToLaw, its affiliates, licensors, service providers, or any of their respective officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any special, punitive, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including, but not limited to:

  • Personal injury or wrongful death,
  • Loss of use, loss of data, or loss of profits,
  • Business interruption or service outage,
  • Any other commercial or economic loss,

whether in an action based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence or fundamental breach), or any other legal theory, arising out of or in connection with:

  • The use or inability to use this Site or any of its services;
  • Any material or information accessed through the Site; or
  • Any products or services purchased, used, or relied upon through the Site;

even if an authorized representative of RightToLaw has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If any jurisdiction does not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain types of damages, the above limitations shall apply to the fullest extent permitted by law in that jurisdiction.

15. Third Party Protection

The indemnification, limitations of liability, and disclaimers set forth in these Terms of Use are for the benefit of RightToLaw, its affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers.

Each of these individuals or entities shall have the independent right to assert and enforce these provisions directly against you, in their own name and on their own behalf, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

16. Jurisdiction

This Agreement represents the entire understanding between you and RightToLaw, and is deemed to be entered into and executed within the jurisdiction of New Delhi, India. It shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to conflict of laws principles or rules.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site or these Terms of Use shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in New Delhi, India. You agree not to object to the venue or jurisdiction of such courts on any ground, including inconvenience of forum.

Any cause of action or claim against RightToLaw must be initiated within one (1) year from the date the claim or cause of action arises, unless a longer period is required under applicable law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and RightToLaw each waive any right to a jury trial in connection with any dispute or legal proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms of Use or your access to or use of the Site and Services.

No failure or delay by RightToLaw in exercising any right, power, or remedy under this Agreement shall constitute a waiver thereof. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of RightToLaw. A single waiver shall not be deemed a continuing or permanent waiver of any term, condition, or right.
