The punishment prescribed is the same — imprisonment up to 7 years and fine. This shows that the lawmakers chose to carry forward the provision without substantive change, ensuring continuity in protecting individual freedom.
An example would be when a person is abducted and locked away in an undisclosed place to prevent them from meeting family or authorities. The act, even without demand for ransom, remains punishable.
