Advocate Arpit Batra has been practicing as a Defence Attorney at the District Courts of New Delhi since July 2008. Over the years, he has been appointed as Amicus Curiae (Friend of the Court) in more than ten cases, where he assisted the judiciary in handling complex matters including Murder, Culpable Homicide, Grievous Hurt, Narcotics, and Robbery. In his private practice, he has dealt with a wide spectrum of criminal matters such as securing bail in bailable and non-bailable offences, release of seized properties, treatment and investigation of accused in police custody, and juvenile delinquency. His experience extends to handling cybercrimes like hacking and phishing, NDPS-related offences, cheque dishonour cases, and a wide range of crimes against women including sexual harassment, dowry death, and domestic violence. He has also represented cases involving foreign nationals and immigration-related arrests by police, airport authorities, and customs.
In 2010, Arpit Batra pursued a Master’s Degree in International Crime at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Center in Torino, Italy. During his academic tenure, he actively participated in seminars and conferences organized by institutions such as the University of Torino, Tulane Law School, the Hague Conference on Private International Law, and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also visited the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia (ICTY) to observe ongoing trials, gaining invaluable international exposure to criminal justice systems and procedures.
Enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2008, Advocate Arpit Batra is a member of the Delhi High Court Bar Association. He regularly appears before various courts in Delhi including the Delhi High Court and District Courts at Dwarka, Karkardooma, Patiala House, Rohini, Saket, and Tis Hazari. His courtroom experience spans every stage of the trial process—right from arguments on charge to examination-in-chief, cross-examinations, statements of the accused, final arguments, sentencing hearings, and other interim applications.
