Advocate Nirmal Preet Singh Hira began his legal journey with a comprehensive internship at Maheshwari & Co., New Delhi, where he gained invaluable experience through in-depth research and analysis on a variety of legal topics. During his internship, he extensively studied the legality of Viber in India, exploring its legal status, evidentiary admissibility, origins, and the different acts and types associated with it, supported by relevant case laws. His research also extended to the “Public Contracts (Settlement of Disputes) Bill, 2013,” where he examined the legislative framework for dispute resolution in public contracts. Additionally, he delved into the intricacies of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) between India and Africa, analyzing policy frameworks, legal challenges, and opportunities, which helped him develop a nuanced understanding of international investment laws and bilateral economic relations. This early exposure to complex legal research honed his analytical skills and laid a strong foundation for his future legal practice.
Throughout his internship, Advocate Nirmal demonstrated a keen interest in various areas of law by preparing detailed notes on current legal issues, researching judgments in diverse legal domains, and attending court proceedings to observe the practical application of legal principles. His research covered a broad spectrum, including exemplary damages, specific reliefs, the Limitation Act, and service tax laws. These experiences provided him with a well-rounded perspective on substantive and procedural law, as well as the importance of precise legal arguments and evidence. His active participation in court proceedings and legal research helped him develop a pragmatic approach to litigation, emphasizing thorough preparation and strategic thinking. His dedication to understanding the nuances of law and his proactive attitude contributed significantly to his professional growth during this formative period.
In addition to his work in corporate and constitutional law, Advocate Nirmal’s passion for social justice led him to intern with the International Human Rights Association in Punjab. There, he undertook research on sensitive issues such as child sexual abuse by close relatives, delving into the legal, social, and psychological aspects of the problem. His work involved visiting SOS villages in Rajpura, Punjab, to understand how vulnerable children are being cared for, and he also visited PGIMER in Chandigarh to contribute to a project focused on children suffering from HIV/AIDS. These experiences exposed him to the human side of law and reinforced his commitment to advocating for marginalized and vulnerable populations. Enrolled with the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana in 2014 and a proud member of the Amritsar Bar Association, Advocate Nirmal has since combined his research-driven approach with practical legal skills, making him a dedicated advocate committed to justice, social change, and legal excellence.
